Note from the Couple
We asked the bride and groom to tell us about their planning and budgeting process, and this is what they had to say:
Growing up, I spent a lot of time at my grandparents’ house on the Loxahatchee River. It has always been a nostalgic place for me. So with my grandmother’s passing in 2013, this place had even more meaning. Hosting our wedding at the house made it feel like she was a part of this special day.
Also, you can’t beat the sunsets there. They are gorgeous! So if you have a location that is special you and your fiance, definitely try to make that work.
My suggestion for a wedding budget is pick out some things that are important to you to splurge on. For us, it was photography (thanks Sonju Photography) and the wedding dress. Additionally, having valet was essential to making our home venue possible.
We got lucky with our location being free, but did have the cost of liquor, wine, and beer bar. We chose to have a smore’s cart instead cake (less dishes) and one large pot of paella instead of a large buffet or plated meal. Our guests actually loved the touches. So they were memorable and helped with the budget.”
