These college sweethearts went to college at South Dakota State University, but chose to get married in South Florida. The bride’s family lives in the area and the groom’s family love vacationing here, so Florida was the perfect destination wedding location for them.
Planning their destination wedding was a snap with the incredible MIPB Family Member Venue Deer Creek Country Club. “Deer Creek has so many options when it comes to ceremony location, food, drinks and vendors, we were able to really pin point what we wanted through them.” Sounds like a match made in heaven!

Wedding Essentials:
Invitations and Stationary:
We had a vision of keeping our wedding simple yet elegant. We wanted to splurge on some items and save on others. For our save the dates and formal initiations, we picked Minted. We found the process to be so easy and definitely recommend getting the samples before making a final decision. In the end, we picked one of the nicer options for our invitations and were so happy with our choice.”
Dessert:
Deer Creek Country Club includes a wedding cake in all their wedding packages. We were given a few different cake vendor options and went with Cakes D’ Sabores. Not living in Florida, we would make special trips into town just for wedding planning. Cakes D’ Sabores was so easy to work with and knew exactly what we wanted after one meeting!”
Photographer:
Picking the perfect photographer was so important to us, as I am sure it is to most couples on their wedding day. Organic Moments Photography had their photos all over Deer Creek’s office and wedding booklet. Knowing that Erica and Josh were familiar with the venue and where to go for great photos, made the decision easy for us. We are so happy with our photos and would recommend Erica and Josh to any couple searching for the perfect photography team.”
Videographer:
We decided to not have a videographer for our wedding. Looking back, it would’ve been nice to see the entire day play out through a different lens, but we wanted to keep on focus on the photos. Luckily, we had some friends who took videos through the entire day so we were able to piece some of those important memories together.”
Flowers:
For the florist, we wanted to keep it very clean and simple. We had a vision of white flowers, greenery, and accents of gold throughout the decor. We wanted the entire wedding to feel light and elegant. Beautiful Kreations helped us bring it together. Marcia’s knowledge and design eye made it so simple for us. Marcia handled everything so that we could relax and know she had it covered!“
Wedding Planner:
After picking Deer Creek Country Club as our venue, we decided not to hire an outside event planner. The team at Deer Creek is so helpful and loves what they do! Through the entire wedding process, from the first tour to loading the gifts in my sister’s car after the wedding, the Deer Creek team was there for us. We knew we could put all our trust into them.”
Reception and Ceremony
Ceremony and Reception Venue:
We took our time in finding the perfect venue, not wanting to feel rushed into making big decisions for our wedding day. Deer Creek Country Club had all pieces to making it the right venue for us. Friendly staff, beautiful golf course for photos, massive chandeliers, floor to ceiling windows, and within our budget! Deer Creek and their amazing staff helped us have a seamless day.”
Food and Beverage:
Luckily, Deer Creek Country Club was a one stop shop and provided us with all the food and alcohol options that we needed. We had so many food choices! Deer Creek made sure all the guests, no matter their food preferences, had plenty to pick from. We are both vegan and Deer Creek made sure we were happy with all the available vegan options!”
Officiant:
For the ceremony, we were married by the groom’s Aunt who married the groom’s parents! She was very open to including both our religions and traditions to make the ceremony special and personalized. Having her perform the wedding ceremony was such a special moment for both families and something we will all forever cherish.”
Ceremony and Reception DJ:
Our DJ was recommended to us by family friends so the decision was pretty easy. Gigs By Gabin is a local DJ that was super easy to work with! Everyone at the wedding had so much fun dancing and we have the photos to show for it!”
Photo Booth:
We went with an open photo booth concept. Photo Booth Rental Miami was super easy to work with and allowed us to book everything online. Our guests loved the photo booth and at the end of the night everyone got copies of all the photos! It was such a hit and would highly recommend.”
Attire and Beauty
Bridal and Groom Attire:
The biggest decision of the day, aside from saying “I Do”, was the wedding attire! The wedding dress was a true work in progress. The bride’s sister gave the idea of taking a simple dress and personalizing it. After going to several bridal stores, we landed on my dress at a shop in South Dakota.
Using the in-house seamstress/alterations queen, we added a bow, a beaded belt, and the illusion of having boobs! The dress majorly delivered and helped me feel like a princess on my wedding day. The earrings, tiara, and veil came from Dareth Colburn with shoes from Kate Whitcomb.
The groom was a little easier! The tux was rented from the same shop as where the wedding dress was purchased. It was a complimentary rental since I purchased my dress with them. Guys have it so easy!”
Hair and Makeup:
Look no further! Bombshell Makeovers is truly the best. Making sure the whole wedding party looked picture perfect but also natural was so important to us for the big day. We have never trusted a group of people like we did with Bombshell. You can tell they know what they are doing and are in a lane of their own. Cannot recommend them enough!”
Transportation:
Aside from the wedding party getting ready location, we decided to keep it simple and keep everything at Deer Creek Country Club. They offer valet services, which made parking super easy and stress free!”
Other Costs
Fun Details:
The Matron of Honor was so good about adding fun details. We had custom masks, baskets for bathrooms, paper fans for the ceremony, and flip flops for anyone needing to take off their heels to dance. The guests appreciated them all!”
Hotel Room Block:
We picked three different hotels at different price points, all within a few minutes of Deer Creek. Each of the three hotels were easy to work with and gave us codes/ names for guests to use when booking. We had room blocks with The Embassy Suites, The Wyndham Hotel in Deerfield Beach, and The Hyatt Hotel in Boca Raton.”
